My Paper Bag Art Journal : Sow Seeds of Love

This page was once again inspired by a video by Andrea Gomoll (Me thinks me like her videos ;-) ) you can watch the video here

This is my finished page :-

  1. I tore pieces of brown card stock which I distressed with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads beforehand and also tore a large Bingo card. These I pasted down randomly with gel medium.
  2. Then a layer of acrylic canvas medium.
  3. Strips of tissue tape were added for more texture.
  4. Used a Blending tool and Pink and Brown Distress inks and added some colour ontop of the canvas medium.
  5. Stamped randomly with StazOn Black.
  6.  I sketched flowers on a free printable dictionary page as well as on the background and then outlined it with a black permanent fine liner.
  7. I then tore the dictionary page in an oval shape, inked it with pink and brown distress inks and  pasted it down with gel medium.
  8. Added another strip of tissue tape to overlap the dictionary page.
  9. The flowers were painted with Derwent Inktense Blocks and more detail was added with permanent markers.
  10. The chipboard corner by Enmarc Crafts was inked with pink and brown distress inks, spritzed and flicked with water and when it was dry, I painted clear rock candy distress paint on top and left it to dry.
  11. Added a bit of distress ink to the dictionary page as it was too white.
  12. Then I rubbed a bit of magic touch in a copper colour randomly on the page.
  13. The wording was done with a white permanent marker onto a piece of the brown distressed card stock. The letters were outlined with a black fine liner. I then tore the words separately from the card stock piece and inked each piece with brown, then pasted it down.
  14. The small hearts came from a box I cut with my Silhouette and I thought that is what Seeds of Love look like ;-)
  15. When the chipboard corner was dry, I pasted it down.
  16. Lastly I added some shadows.
Now for a few close-ups :-

My Papaer Bag Album : When I needed Sunshine I Got Rain

This page was inspired by Neil Diamond's song I'm a Believer. The words 'When I needed sunshine I got rain' fell on my ears. We hardly ever get any rain, but it was cold and misty for more than 2 weeks and I was longing for warm sunshiny weather!

I grabbed my paper bag and turned it over.

  • Stamped a harlequin pattern with StazOn Black onto copy paper, tore it to pieces. Also tore blue handmade paper to pieces inked all the edges with black and randomly pasted the two different papers down with gel medium.
  • Painted with acrylic canvas primer and let it dry.
  • Paper serviette with flowers and bees torn and pasted down with gel medium.
  • Used Derwent Aquatone crayons in blue to colour background.
  • Enmarc Crafts Stencil : Hart & Flowers and gesso paste for additional flowers painted with pink craft paint. Added stickles to the centers and outlined with white permanent marker.
  • Chipboard Umbrella by Enmarc Crafts : Coloured with craft paint and added faux stitching with black pen.
  • Enhanced the serviette flowers and bee with Stabilo pens and added stickles to the bee's wings.
  • Added more blue aquatone crayon to the top of the background as well as the top of the umbrella and used water and a brush to let the colour run down the background.
  • Used Alphabet stamps by Janel to stamp my wording onto patterned paper. Pasted down with gel medium.
  • Used a black uniball pen to outline all the elements.
  • Lastly dripped dimensional glaze from the top and let it run down.
Now for a few close-ups :

My Paper Bag Art Journal : Only 10? Minutes a Day!

I have been watching quite a few Youtube videos and saw an Art Journal by Andrea Gomoll which she created December 2013 - 【December Daily Artjournal】 Résumé _ Pageflip. Her art journal was made of paper bags and watercolour paper and this journal consists of daily pages from the 1st of December up to the 24th of December. I then decided I want to make one too, but it would not be a Christmas journal.

Unfortunately I cannot remember where I read about it or watched a video clip, but the lady suggested that one should put a couple of materials (journal/pens/crayons/mediums/etc) aside and spend 10 minutes a day on your art journal. Even if it means that you put all of these materials on a tray which you can hide underneath the lounge chair ;-)

Well, that sounded like a super nice idea and I decided to combine the 2 ideas, spending 10 minutes a day on a Paper Bag Journal!

This is the cover page:-

ONLY 10? MINUTES A DAY!

I started off by painting the bag with acrylic canvas primer and left it to dry,
I so much love to use paper serviettes and then tore a patterned serviette into smaller pieces.
Next I used Matt Gel Medium and pasted the serviette pieces down and left it to dry.
Added a layer of acrylic canvas primer and left it to dry.
Used bubble wrap and acrylic craft paint in white and pink to 'stamp' dots randomly on the page and left to dry.
Next I used gold acrylic craft paint and rubbed it randomly with my finger.

I printed a free image onto copy paper, cut it out and pasted it onto the background with gel medium.
After the gel medium was dry, I painted the clock with acrylic craft paints, used a gold permanent marker and added ruby liquid pearls and finished the clock off with a black fine liner (which smudged, but I WILL embrace imperfection!)
Added a white pearly Sugar Candy brad to the centre of the clock face.
The shadow was done with purple paint.

Next I traced different sized circles randomly onto the background. Some of the circles were painted with green and white acrylic craft paint and some were just outlined with the gold marker. I added 'clock hands' to the green circles and outlined it with a white permanent marker.

Now at this point I have to tell you that for me, it is IMPOSSIBLE to stick to just 10 minutes a day LOL! Thus the whiteboard chippy 'Time Flies' by Enmarc Crafts!
I inked it lightly with brown and added stickles to the wings and left it to dry.
Next I added dimensional glaze to the clock face and wings and after it was dry, I pasted it down.

The sentiment was printed on white paper and cut into smaller pieces.
Inked the edges and pasted the pieces down with gel medium.
I added loose stitching to the edges and also outlined the words.

Just Some Handmade Cards

It's been a while since I have posted to the Blog, but I have been very busy ;-)

I needed to make cards for my shop as the stock dropped drastically and I hate it to send customers across the street to the local CNA :-( Why put jam on their bread instead of my own!

I think I made some 130+ cards of which some were duplicated and others not. Stamping. Embossing, Colouring. etc was on the priority list for a week or three and I had to do these as time permitted.

Here are a few of these cards so long. I will photograph some more and post in the near future.
